Most photographers will tell you China Beach only works at golden hour. This session is proof that’s not true. Midday light here is bright and open (the kind of light that makes the water sparkle and gives you sharp, clean images with real energy). There’s more life on the beach at noon too: fishermen working the shore, waves coming in strong, kids who want to run toward the water rather than pose next to it.
China Beach is one of the most accessible San Francisco locations for families coming from Marin (about 20 minutes from San Anselmo, parking is usually easy, and the beach itself is small enough that toddlers can’t disappear on you). This session captures a family of two adults and a young child doing exactly that: moving, exploring, being themselves.
