Baker Beach in the fog. Cass photographed this family three times in a year (maternity session, then in-home, now here on the coast) with two kids growing impossibly fast. They’re the kind of clients who know to bring layers, who don’t mind when Karl the Fog rolls in thick and doesn’t burn off. The family walked barefoot across misty sand, held hands on weathered driftwood logs, stood against gnarled cypress trees bending in the wind. Big brother in his navy cardigan, grinning genuine joy. Little sister in golden yellow, eyes wide and alert.

Fog does something good to color: makes it rich, makes it sing. A father pretending to eat a pretzel. Parents kneeling in the sand beside their kids. Black and white moments of little sister asleep, wisps of baby hair caught in soft light. Three sessions in twelve months meant Cass got to watch this family’s story unfold, got to know them well enough that they relaxed completely in front of the lens. Weather makes a session memorable, as long as everyone shows up ready for it. This family did.
