This family travelled back to the Bay Area for their session, their third time in front of Cass’s camera. Glen Park delivered: bright sun, no fog, eucalyptus trees tall enough to matter. The kids had energy to burn, so the landscape worked. Rocks to collect. A soccer ball they found. Hands on wooden rails, bodies stretched across fallen logs, serious expressions catching golden afternoon light.

There’s something about photographing people you’ve shot before. Cass knows their rhythms now. The way the dad steadies the toddlers on boulders. How the kids’ faces look when they’re focused on small things (pinecones, tree bark, the view down a valley). Two children lying back on leaf litter, heads tilted toward each other. A woman in an orange shirt holding one of her kids close, dappled light everywhere, everyone smiling at something real.

Good light. Good family. Good day.
