This family brought me back to a place that already meant everything to them. The Venue in Marin Headlands holds years of their story. It’s a spot with real meaning for them, and they wanted their kids to grow up with photos there too. The kids were running through the redwoods and stone pathways like they owned the place, and the parents still looked at each other the same way.

The afternoon was overcast but perfect. No harsh shadows, just soft light filtering through the coastal trees. They brought music, which changed everything. Suddenly the kids were dancing, the parents were laughing harder, and the stiffness that sometimes creeps into sessions just dissolved. I got shots of genuine joy, not posed happiness. The burgundy turtleneck against those evergreens. The toddler crawling through flower petals. Both kids laughing on that iron bench like they owned the place.

What struck me most was watching them mark time here. Kids grow so fast, and this venue (this specific spot in Marin Headlands) became their marker. A place to return to and say: this is where we were, this is who we were together. If you’re looking to do the same with your family, I’d love to be there.
