Newborn

Victoria and her family’s Mill Valley home on a soft morning. Gwen was one month old, and the house felt like it had been waiting for her. We moved through the nursery with its palm mural, the plant-filled living room, and a bedroom with a pocket of light too good to skip. Then we stepped outside. The garden around their house turned out to be one of the best parts of the whole session, and everyone loved being out there.

Gwen moved between wide-eyed alertness and sleep all morning. Victoria nursed her under that mural, morning light landing right where it needed to. Later, both parents leaned in over something Gwen had done, and Victoria’s laugh was completely unguarded.

That’s the thing about in-home sessions (no clock, no reset, no arranged poses). Just two sets of hands wrapped around a swaddle, a mama lifting her baby into dappled garden light, a quiet moment face-to-face before a nap. These are the images families keep coming back to, because they show how it actually felt, not just what happened.
