Baker Beach rolled in thick with fog the day Cass photographed this mama-to-be. The kind of fog that swallows the Marin coastline whole. Most people would reschedule. Not her. She ran with Cass by the water, got wet, laughed the whole way through.

This was her first baby. She’s a doula—the kind of person who holds space for others during their biggest moments. Felt right to return that care. Blue dresses, gray dresses, lavender. Wildflowers in the mist. Cypress trees bent from years of coastal wind. Her hands cradling her belly over and over, each time a little different. Barefoot in the sand. Against driftwood. Gazing toward a horizon she couldn’t quite see.

The fog didn’t ruin anything. It made it better.
