Their newborn arrived, and Cass was there to document it all (from that first morning at home through the messy, tender days after). She’d photographed their maternity session months before, so this felt like completing a story.

The house was cozy. Light poured through windows. There were golden knit wraps and a big brother in a burgundy shirt, carefully cradling his sister while she slept. Parents holding their newborn on the bed, both grinning. A father tossing his son high in the air, the baby’s arms stretched wide. The fog burned off by midday, giving Cass that soft, even light she needed (the kind that doesn’t compete with what’s already happening in a room).

They explored the garden too. Four of them on a gray couch. A mother nursing by a window. Those tiny hands grasping at fingers. This is what newborn photography should be: the actual thing, not performed. Real connection. Real life. Cass caught it all.
