One month old, and already so present. That’s what Cass remembers most about this session (walking into a cozy Marin County home and meeting a baby who seemed genuinely curious about everything). Wide eyes, alert, looking around like the world was something to figure out.

There’s something about first-time parents that Cass loves to photograph. The careful way they hold. The way they keep glancing at each other, then back at the baby. This family had that quality (warm and soft and still figuring it out together). Their home felt the same way. Cozy, lived-in, full of good light.

Cass brought Tri-X 400 alongside her digital kit for this one (just for the pleasure of it). Black and white film has a way of stripping everything down to what matters. The detail shots from this session are some of her favorites she’s ever made.

If you’re in those early weeks with a new baby and want someone to come to you (your home, your light, no studio, no rushing), Cass would love to be there.
